It Takes a Village
People often say that it takes a village to raise a child. And while we at the Renegade CEO’s completely agree with that philosophy what we have found is that most organizations that work with entrepreneurial youth are not entrepreneurs themselves (oh the irony). So they tend to ‘protect’ their young people by not exposing them to cross-marketing opportunities. The only disservice they are doing is to themselves. Because in the end they won’t have an open, trustworthy and loyal community, but a divided one.
We could easily launch a forum, a message board, an internet TV series and hire a market research firm to say that ‘Youth Love Our Programs’. But over time we have discovered the best practices, ideas and advocacy comes from the young people we have empowered (not helped) from Day 1. All of the ideas that we implement often wrecklessly :) translation “with a sense of urgency and without second thought” come from teens who are completely open about what they need, want and would like to see. We begin implementing and launching ideas often within 48 hours of thinking of them and depending on time and resources we usually see the live and finished product in less than 8 weeks.
All of these ideas, supplemental products, services and resources have now become greater than us and that is why we have decided it is time to build a community that makes these tools and services approachable and easy to implement for teen CEO’s.
A book or textbook is simple and condensed. They often provide valuable resources and information but either it is fully theory or full of feel good and it is often missing the “interactive dynamic” which makes it challenging to implement.
A ‘TV’ program, video or radio show is cool because you can hear things explained more clearly.
A forum is reactive. You can get lots of ideas here and there and ask what you want but reality is that it is overwhelming and without order. A forum is ideal if you know where you are going and how you fit in but more often than not, that isn’t the case.
A social networking community is good because it brings like minded people together. But again, where do you start? Where do you fit in? How can you get the maximum benefit in that community?
A mastermind is cool and so are business coaching services but they often have a lofty fee associated with them which makes it difficult especially for teen CEO’s who are just starting out.
All of these tools are wonderful resources but there needs to bring a better vehicle that brings them all together. The Renegade CEO’s have taken this all into consideration and have spent several months identifying and aligning with strategic partners and people in our village who truly WANT to see young people succeed and want to take a proactive role in that process. Our community (launching July/August 2009) will bring together all of the signature products and services of the Renegade CEO’s along with the outside world. We will be launching an online commnity that offers bundled services such as- legal assistance, marketing, speaker’s training, publishing assistance advocacy, editing services etc. and much, much more. And most importantly it will align with our Teen CEO blueprint and tie in to YOUR local offline community. This will allow YOUth to be able to understand and implement the steps and the right person in the order of starting and growing a business regardless of when you join and there will always be other teen CEO’s in the same stage as you. So you can make both individual and collective progress. Everyone will have the opportunity to take advantage of both individual and collective coaching, mastermind teams (arranged by your experience and business type) and a marketplace where you can contribute your products and services being produced and sold by other teen CEO’s.
