Renegade Teachers Association for Entrepreneurship Education

“where teens ignite your lesson plan”

Somewhere between the physical world and the virtual world, the Information Age and the Creative Age, lies the world that Shonika built…with her teens!!! Entrepreneurship is as creative as it is structured and many of the most important lessons learned are the ones learned ‘in the moment’. It is for this very reason that we decided to start the Renegades Teachers Association For Entrepreneurship Education (a free membership community for entrepreneurship education teachers).

Shonika has taken me from a troubled ‘non-educational friendly’ teenager and made a total 720 turn around turning me into the young entrepreneur I am today. My success both offline and online has to be contributed mostly to her and her advice and support in transitioning me from a normal citizen to a Renegade CEO.  Patricio Quezada, 18, Founder, Hispanics Learn

Teach teens to build a business…

Or inspire them to ‘own their life’.

Entrepreneurship is NOT:

These are old school AND adult centered values.

Ask most entrepreneurial teens what they would do if they earned a certain amount of money and the vast majority will say, keep a little for themselves and use the rest to help someone in their family or a certain group of underserved people. And in terms of multi-million dollar corporations, is it not what most small business owners use to measure success of what they aspire that company to be?

The thing that motivates and excites teens is coming to the realization that they can create their destiny and ‘own their life’ TODAY regardless of their current life circumstances. There are many experiences in ones life that may trigger this, whether it is taking a job for the first time, overcoming personal hardship or going away to college/boarding school. In terms of a productive and creative outlet, entrepreneurship is one of the best vehicles to use to come to this realization because the barriers to entry are often low, it is flexible, proactive and something that most youth can participate in regardless of where they live. It is through the process of starting and running a business that challenges them and impacts society that teens CAN (not will) learn the mindset of opportunity and that it applies in all aspects of their life (business, career, family or community). But it is all dependent on how you engage with the teen otherwise, entrepreneurship is ‘just another class’. So how do you make that connection with your students?  You join the Renegades Teacher Association for Entrepreneurship Education, of course!

Yes, MEMBERSHIP is really FREE! Whooop! Plus these goodies are included:

Why is membership free? Because in the age of technology and new media things happens fast. Our focus is on getting timely information out (esp. info such as entrepreneurial contests and scholarship updates) to independent minded and visionary teachers who know how to leverage their resources and realize the importance of putting the needs of their students first. We want to make this as easy as possible for anyone who wants to participate and can benefit from our support. Plus with entrepreneurship education for young people still very much in its infancy collaboration is key as we work to build best practices and progressive teaching methods that appeal to today’s young people.
