This morning I read an article entitled: Obama Promises More Than 600,000 Stimulus Jobs http://bit.ly/a28T5

YAWN…let me just call it now- Stimulus Jobs and Stimulus Bail Out- EPIC FAIL. If you don’t get it, you don’t get it >:-) I have been reading the stimulus bill. If you want to peep it you can check it out here: Read the Stimulus (1500+ pages and counting).

But before I break out into the anatomy of a Stimulus Job, let me just put it into you in simple terms. In the famous words of musician T.I. It is not who gets it first but who has it last.

So be one with the turtle my friend because at the end of the day it was the turtle who won the race.

Stimulus jobs and the stimulus money…well it is all hunky dory and great in theory and I even hope to see a smidget of it come my way, but the reality is many people are on very hard and desperate times right now and our culture is soooo…..[enter any number of words or phrases here]. What it comes down to is that the money is going to go fast (relatively speaking) and the jobs are going to go fast (relatively speaking) and there is going to be a false sense of ‘hope’ because we are in reactive mode not proactive mode. People are not thinking through things. They are going to get out there and get their daily grind on. I just don’t see them innately masterminding and seeing how they can grow their money (although that is what my group is doing AND inclusive of my teen entrepreneurs, naturally). We need to build generational wealth one way or another whether it is in our birth family or our ’spiritual’?? one.

Out of the jobs that will be created I strongly believe that only a small percentage of people will continue moving forward and the rest will be unemployed…again….and then what. The jobs and consulting & training opportunities that will be left are the ones that have high growth potential, think green, medical, high tech and public sector (government management). Look in that arena!!! I don’t care if you have experience. If you have an interest GO FOR IT!

Anyway, this is what I mean about the money going quick, fast and in a hurry- Look at the money going to youth initiatives and workforce development programs for the summer. I have read a number of shallow articles about what agencies who are getting money plan on doing with it. There is no vision and substance behind these initiatives whatsoever. And in a year (or less) the kids will be out of jobs and the organizations will probably be out of business because they had no foresight whatsoever. I have worked with so many non profit organizations and many do not have an entrepreneurial background (which is key with the stimulus funding) so they just function and all their resources are usually tapped when the check runs out. Is Stimulus Funding a set up? Oooooh conspiracy theory. Is this a diplomatic set up to systematically get rid of all the poorly run organizations who have been complaining for years that they don’t never get money or a chance. I think I may be onto something here….[evil grin].

Think about the people running these programs that say stuff like ’we want to get our youth off the streets’. If that is the intention then what happens when the stimulus money runs out? If there are no jobs do all the kids run back into the streets, causing havoc on their community without any regard for humanity or their environment that they are altering for the worst, not the better? I’m not trying to be the grim reaper, I’m just sayin’. It is the reality folks. If you want to get kids off the street don’t lead with that intention or motivation. Lead with what you want kids to run to not run from. Think for the long term, not the short term. Show them that living in poverty is by choice not by chance. Teach them how to make more proactive conscious choices (you are in control of the situation) vs. reactive conscious choices (the situation is in control of you). They need to understand the value in themselves, their skill set, their key differentiators and given the the tools to start growing into their dream and their potential NOW.

That whole concept of let’s just get them working to give them a feel for making some money. Ummm, let’s do the math-

Option 1: Wake up, go to work in a minimal wage job and not understand my purpose or potential and earn $600/mo. Or -

Option 2: Sit at home all day, watch TV, get money for food and earn $600/mo.

Okie dokie, I hear you. Some people DO actually want a better life for themselves. Bravo, so let’s start here and use this job as a stepping stone. And then once they get to what they feel is the pivotal point and actually making progress then that is when the money for the program dries up. Am I right or Am I right? Is it not at the point when they were JUST about to bust through to the next level that the system has failed them again.
