The Power of Marketing via a Free Press Release
Have you any idea of the power of marketing via a free press release? Ok, so you’ve heard of it but you don’t know what it is. Understood. So let me tell you in simple terms what it is. A press release is a written document (usually one page) that makes an important or special announcement about your company. And in simple terms, here’s is why you need to send them out- this is how the newspaper and public can easily find you. And the smaller your company the more important esp. if you can’t afford things like newspaper and yellow pages advertisements. The press release will show the world that YOU EXIST!
Some examples of important announcements that you might send out would be:
-You promoted or hired an employee
-Landed a new client
-Launched a new product
If your company is very, very small or if you are just starting out or you are the only person right now, you can still write a press release. You could announce a new product or service you are offering, the official opening or your company or tell the world that you just released the groovy new super duper gadget 2000bx series
The press release would be sent via the web (it can also be sent by fax but that is not as common these days). This announcement would be sent to news outlets, journalists and reporters worldwide….which means that YOU, yes lil’ old you COULD BE DISCOVERED! Yes, my friend, that is how people get into the newspaper and on the local news. They contact the local media and they pitch their story.
However, it is a little more involved than that. Of course, there is a professional and a special way your press release must be written and special places that you can send it. Some places cost and others are free. But it is so worth it because the reach and opportunity it can bring is tremendous. The following post on how to write a powerful press release was written by my dear friend Robert Moment who is also a respected sales and marketing professional and accomplished business coach. In his post he shares in great detail not only how to organize your press release, but also what things to include in it and where to send it. Robert and I served together on the Advisory Board for the Small Business Development Centers which were sponsored by the SBA (Small Business Administration). I have seen Robert quickly evolve as the ultimate serial entrepreneur as he changed business themes throughout the years based on his passion as he continued developing personally and professionally. And he also published a few books along the way. His current niche is Christian Business Coaching. So it just goes to show you there is no limit or restrictions on the types of themes and business interests you can pursue. It all depends on your personal preference and what you ultimately want to accomplish. At any rate, his post is probably one of the most thorugh one’s that I have seen on the web and he has always provided me with informative and extremely helpful information that saved me tons of time, so it is no surprise to me that I was able to find this post when I was researching the topic. Enjoy and when you visit his site, make sure you are on your best behavior
