Fast Web, the college scholarship folks, is hosting a video contest entitled “Why I Deserve a Scholarship”. Hmm, wonder what that’s all about? ;-)  You can get $2,500 for 1st place and $1,500 for 2nd. There will also be a $1,000 random drawing for everyone who votes! But you can’t win unless you register and vote. Here are some tips for your winning video:

3 Tips for Your Winning Fast Web Video Entry

1. Everybody has a ’story’….so what’s yours? Share your struggle, challenges that you have overcome.

2. It’s all about character! You don’t have to have the highest grades; near perfect SAT scores; have played every team sport; been the President of your class. What are your hobbies? What creative skill do you have? What are some of your best traits or maybe your worse ones? Ha, ha. Maybe you are the most uncordinated person ever and would NEVER ever earn an athletic scholarship unless you were the water boy or girl.  Portray it in your video.

3. Think of others. Got a person who can vouch for you? Maybe a long time neighbor, family  friend, a school counselor who is counting down to the last day as well- have them give you a plug.  It makes you more humble and sound a lot better when somebody else is hyping you up!

Regardless of what you do, remember that you can’t win if you don’t enter. So do that first, then remember to be yourself and have fun! You never know….the world will be watching so you just may get discovered for something else.

Flip Camera

And here’s a little more information about the Flip Camera that they mention in their advert, if you haven’t heard about it before. Being that they’ve already sold over a million of these things…I am wondering how could anyone not have heard of it before ;-)  I have one and it’s really cool. There are 3 versions of it that all retail somewhere between $100 and $175 range. They hold an hour of video, run off AAA batteries, have a USB attachment for direct publishing to MySpace, YouTube….all your favorite social networking sites and the coolest thing ever about it is that it is even for the techno challenged- just point show and push the red button to start recording and the red button to stop recording. Renegade CEO Marketing Tip: It’s also a handy dandy marketing tool for the Renegade CEO on the go to record innerviews with all the interesting and inspirational people they meet on the fly. And it’s good when you are starting out and want to do mini promo interviews…just get the mini tripod ($14.95) additional.

Good Luck Everybody!
